0923 - Madrid

Madrid, Spain - the last stop.
I made it my last stop because.. umm I'd got cheap direct flight back to Liverpool from Madrid. Having stopped by this place while I was on my way to Lisbon, I knew exactly what to do when I was back in Madrid. Without wasting any time, I took the metro to Sol once I arrived at Madrid Chamartin station. The hostel was easily found yet it wasn't the time to check in.

First place (also the nearest) to go - Plaza Mayor

Almudena Cathedral

Palacio Real de Madrid ie Royal Palace

Look at the long queue

Jardines de Sabatini

spent some time with the sunshine

San Francisco el Grande Basilica

Puerta de Atocha Station

Museo del Prado

Parque del Retiro

Puerta de Alcalá

Palacio de las Comunicaciones

temptation....

Afternoon tea - hot chocolate + churros
Super content! Haven't been eating churros since Dreamworld Gold Coast

Plenty of Spanish tapas bars

Back in Plaza Mayor...

the very famous Museo del Jamón - not a museum but a restaurant.

Huge slabs of meat hanging all around the restaurant

This restaurant is a must-visit for pork lovers. So as a pork lover, there's no way that I leave Madrid without trying the famous jamon.

What can be more relaxing than sitting at the pavement cafe in Plaza Mayor square, enjoying music by street performers, and tasting the mouthwatering jamon and white wine?

Madrid at night from the hostel. In the hostel I met a British guy that I was so impressed by his fluent BM. Yes, Bahasa Melayu. He insisted to chat in BM yet I guess I've given all of them back to my teachers.

the next morning - saying goodbye.

It's not good saying goodbye. And it wasn't a good day. Very early in the morning I took the metro to Madrid Barajas International Airport. At least I thought I was early, I really had no idea how did time pass without me noticing.

By the time I was done with my visa check, the counter for luggage check in was already closed. So I was asked to board the plane with my bagpack, that's fine. The worse part was security check. I had 15mins left and there was a long long queue. By carrying my luggage with me means I wasn't allow to bring any liquids on board thereby I was forced to throw away 2 cans and a bottle of coke. HUGE LOSS!

And even worse, I was requested to go through the security check AGAIN. At the moment, I've totally lost my patience and everyone knew it from my face. They found the toolkit ie screwdrivers from my bagpack, confiscated it, it didn't matter me so long as they let me go asap. But luckily they couldn't detect my Swiss army knife, or else I'll either kill them or I'll kill myself if they confiscated it. Security check? Bullshit.

I was just 1 minute away before the closing of boarding gate and I was basically the last one to get on the shuttle bus that sent us to the plane.

The thought of 'voluntarily' missing the flight and staying longer did cross my mind, but I didn't want it to happen or else I wouldn't be able to be back in Liverpool before uni started knowing that there wasn't any flight available for the next few days.

Anyway at least I made it and here I am.
