0827 - Berlin

The previous sleepless night didn't ruin my mood to explore the capital of Germany.

The Berlin Hauptbahnhof a.k.a main railway station itself is an attraction. It's so big that I almost lost my way inside.

Reichstag - the Parliament building

Free entry to the glass dome on the roof top, yet....

The famous Berlin wall

nothing, just my legs...

Museumsinsel - the Museum Island

Berliner Dom - where I was desperate to get a picture of mine taken

Fernsehturm - the TV Tower

Rotes Rathaus - the town hall

Hackescher Markt

where I had my lunch - Berliner Wurst (sausage)

at the roadside Imbisse (stall), standing, like everyone else...

and a cup of refreshing orange juice under the hot hot weather

the another remaining part of Berlin wall

Back at the station, I was initially looking for Rote Grutze, a famous German dessert yet I had the wrong one, the fruit yogurt

Seats to be rented for sunbathing. I would do so, if I have the time.

Holocaust Mahnmal - the memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe

the weather was too hot, a cup of Ice Blended Lemon Green Tea was badly needed

Brandenburg Tor

my collection of Berlin Bears from all around the city

After taking another 'public' shower, I took the night train.

This night train journey was... intense

Firstly I went into the wrong compartment. Luckily I realised that before the train coach split and headed to another destination. Moreover, the sleeping compartment where I was supposed to be in, as seen above, looks much better and cleaner.

Secondly, I was so happy that the train actually has electric socket where I could charge my batteries. I turned on my laptop. However, bad thing happened. After about 10 minutes, the lights in my compartment was going on and off, like those horror movies. At the moment, my laptop was switching between 'battery mode' and 'charging mode', ie the electrical supply was interrupted so I just plugged my laptop in and out the socket hoping that it worked. It did work yet after a few moments it didn't again. The lights were off and the train stopped. I wasn't paying any attention and I thought we arrived in another station. After few minutes, the train started moving, and I tried to plug in my laptop again. This time, another blackout, the train stopped with a minor crash. I was so frightened and only I realised that I was actually the main culprit for causing the electric breakdown of the train. Out of guilty conscience, I immediately kept my laptop away. As my heart was beating faster and faster, I could feel and hear that the train engine couldn't be started. After several attempts, the train finally ran and me, terrified, dared not to do nothing anymore but to sleep.

Next station: Warszawa Centralna
