Approximately 2 hrs train journey from Liverpool.
Reached at Leeds train station at 9 something in the morning.
Found another version of monopoly in the train station! If every places in the UK have their own version of monopoly... it would cost you a bomb to have a complete collection
After going to China'town' (I prefer calling it a street), we went to Leeds City Market.
Outdoor
Indoor
Leeds is small and there is actually nothing special except for those beautiful buildings. So we've basically visited to all of the attractions shown on the map.
First, Leeds Corn Exchange.
Used to be corn exchange, then became a shopping mall and now a food emporium
Leeds town hall
Leeds City Museum
Millennium Square - Ice skating rink
City Art Gallery
Victoria Quarter
Looks familiar?
We stayed in the accommodation of a friend of friend of mine.
As the 'friend of friend of mine' is a vegetarian, we had a vegetarian steamboat at night.
Still, yummy yummy!
For the next day, we traveled to York.
Due to don't-know-what reason (snow, I supposed), the train was not in service and coach service was provided. It took us an hour to reach there from Leeds.
Again, it is a small place.
York Minster
No point wasting money when you can actually walk with your legs.
York City Art Gallery.
Seems like every city has its own art gallery but I don't think I'm artistic enough to appreciate the arts.
Theatre Royal - a combination of both modern and traditional building
Yorkshire Museum
St Mary's Abbey
Best commercial shoot for orange juice.
Who would drink orange juice in the snow - me
Who would bring the whole packet of orange juice while traveling around - me
Our lunch - traditional Cornish pie!
I had a lamb and mint pie. Super yummy! Especially when you are holding and eating something hot in the cold weather.
Cliffords Tower
View from the top
A place to go - York Crown Court
Castle Museum
The Shambles - the most unique street in York with many shops.
The city of York is surrounded by the Bar Walls. Sounds and seems like the Great Wall, just that it's way shorter.
Last destination - National Railway Museum.
As shown in the picture, it's the largest railway museum in the world.
Indeed many different trains from the whole world are exhibited.
Spot me
Spent some time playing with the snow before going back to Leeds.
Attractions we missed in York:
The Yorkshire Wheel - something like eye on msia, didn't manage to see it due to snow.
Haunted Walk of York - not interested, you know why.
I was supposed to stay in Leeds for another night but due to the cancellation of lecture on last Wednesday, I had a replacement lecture this morning. So I had no choice but to come back to Liverpool yesterday.
Totally exhausted.
